The
New School of English was established in 1962 and has been recognised by the British
Council as efficient for over 25 years. The School is located in a quiet residential
street that backs onto the University Botanic Gardens. The famous city centre and historic
university colleges are fifteen minutes' walk on foot from the School. The train station
is very close by, and there are fast trains every hour to London, King's Cross station.
The journey time is 52 minutes.
The School has been teaching English to foreign adults from academic
and corporate sectors for over 35 years, and enjoys the reputation for being very friendly
and professional. Many of the students choose our School as a result of personal
recommendations from previous clients, and we are happy to provide professional references
on request. We focus on individuals rather than groups, and we are proud of the broad
nationality mix and age range that we achieve. In 1996/97 we welcomed students from over
32 countries and the average age of our students was 25.
The School has many useful facilities including a language
laboratory, a self-access study centre/library, video library, and an Information
Technology Centre with computers operating on Windows '95/ Microsoft Office '97. Students
can use Internet facilities and send or receive e-mail/faxes. There is a very comfortable
student common room where students can buy light refreshments, relax and talk.
